What inspires me?
I've been asked this question a lot over the years and I've never really come to a clear answer until recently. To me, the answer is either extremely broad or very specific. Initially I always think that I am inspired by other artists work that challenge me and encourage me to look at art work in a different way. I am inspired to capture and adorn things that people don't always take the time to notice and appreciate. But ultimately, I realized, I am inspired to evoke an emotional response from my audience. I truly cherish the moments when I see peoples faces light up from something I've created. To me, that is the pricelessness of all creation. And thus, why I am motivated to, or "inspired to", continue my pursuits as an artist.

What's my process like?
Whether it is a commission or not I always begin with a mental image of what the end product will look like. I always try to envision multiple versions of something I create. I have found that it is not only a great creative exercise, but it allows me to not deeply cherish one option over the other.

What are the biggest lessons I've learned as an artist?
As I have communicated with different artists with vastly contrasting backgrounds I find that one of the most common troubles we have is being afraid to do something drastic to our pieces. The process of creation is extremely intimate and it is only natural that one's first instinct is to protect it. I find, however, that it is in those moments where we make a bold choice, that the largest reward is won... and sometimes that bold choice was totally the wrong one! Either way, I find that the practice of taking chances is an important skill not just in the artistic process but in life!
